Section 80G, Income Tax Act 1961
Tax benefits on your donation (Section 80G)
Donations to Pura Foundation qualify for deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The trust holds provisional approval (URN AAGTP2285AF20251) valid from AY 2026-27 to AY 2028-29. Here is what that is worth in practice, and what you need to claim it.
What a deduction is actually worth
| You donate | Deductible amount | Saving at 30% slab | Saving at 20% slab |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹5,000 | ₹2,500 | ₹780 | ₹520 |
| ₹10,000 | ₹5,000 | ₹1,560 | ₹1,040 |
| ₹25,000 | ₹12,500 | ₹3,900 | ₹2,600 |
| ₹1,00,000 | ₹50,000 | ₹15,600 | ₹10,400 |
Assumes the common 50% deduction, the old tax regime, and includes 4% health and education cess. Your actual saving depends on your slab and on the 10%-of-adjusted-gross-total-income cap. This is illustrative, not tax advice.

Common questions
Is my donation to Pura Foundation tax deductible?
Yes. Pura Foundation holds provisional approval under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (URN AAGTP2285AF20251, granted 14 July 2025), valid from AY 2026-27 to AY 2028-29. Provisional approval carries the same deduction for you as final approval; the difference is that the trust must apply for final approval before the window closes. Donations are eligible for deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961, subject to the limits prescribed therein. Pura Foundation holds provisional approval valid from AY 2026-27 to AY 2028-29.
How much tax can I actually save under 80G?
For most approved charitable trusts, 50% of the donated amount is deductible from your taxable income, and the total 80G deduction you may claim in a year is capped at 10% of your adjusted gross total income. A ₹10,000 donation therefore typically reduces taxable income by ₹5,000. Note that the deduction is only available under the old tax regime — it cannot be claimed under the new regime. Your own tax adviser is the right person to confirm your position.
When do I get my receipt?
Immediately. The receipt is emailed the moment the payment is confirmed, and it is also available at a private link you can open or print any time. Receipts are numbered sequentially by Indian financial year.
Do I need to give my PAN?
It is optional to donate, but required on the receipt if you intend to claim a deduction. Under the current rules the trust reports donations to the Income Tax Department against the donor’s PAN, and the pre-filled deduction in your return comes from that report.
What is Form 10BE and will I get one?
Form 10BE is the donation certificate an approved trust must issue for the previous financial year, by 31 May. If you gave with your PAN recorded, you will receive it by email at that time. It is the document the Income Tax Department matches your claim against.
Is a cash donation eligible for 80G?
Cash donations above ₹2,000 are not eligible for deduction. Giving online — as you do here — leaves a clean, verifiable trail and avoids the question entirely.
I lost my receipt. Can I get it again?
Yes, and you do not need us for it. Go to “Your donations”, enter the email address you gave, and we send you a sign-in link — every gift you have made is listed there with its receipt to view or download. If that address no longer reaches you, write to people@purafoundation.life with the donor name and approximate date and we will sort it out.
