Privacy policy

Written to be read. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we will answer plainly.

What we collect

When you donate: your name, email address, mobile number, and optionally your PAN, postal address and a dedication message. Your PAN is collected only so a tax receipt can be issued in your name. If you dedicate a gift, we keep the occasion and its date, and we record whether you have agreed to hear from us. Every one of those is optional, and none of them affects your donation. When you browse: the pages you view, how long you stay and how far you read, your device type, and the campaign or link that brought you here. We keep this in our own database under a visitor code made fresh each day from a one-way scramble of your IP address and browser, which cannot be turned back into either. Your IP address is also used to protect the site from abuse, and appears in our web server’s logs.

The donor wall

Every confirmed gift appears on the public donor wall with its programme, its amount and when it was made. Your name is shown there, as your first name and the initial of your last, only if you tick the box asking for it; otherwise the gift is listed without a name.

What we never collect

Card numbers, UPI PINs, CVVs, net banking credentials. Payments are handled entirely by Razorpay on their own infrastructure. Those details never touch this site or our servers.

Emails you have agreed to

The updates box on the donation form starts unticked. We write to you only if you tick it; if you leave it unticked, we do not. We write only about our work, the dates you gave us, and appeals we think you would want to see. You can see and change everything we hold — your dates, your consent — at any time under “Your donations”, where you can also turn our emails off, and every update we send has an unsubscribe link. Receipts, and anything we are legally required to send, come to you either way.

Why we collect it

To process your donation, issue a valid receipt, meet the reporting obligations that apply to a charitable trust, tell you what your gift achieved, and understand which of our appeals actually work so we spend less on reaching people and more on care.

Who we share it with

Razorpay, to process the payment. Our email provider, to deliver your receipt. The Income Tax Department, in the statement of donations a trust is required to file. Google Analytics: the pages you view, only if you accept cookies; and, for a confirmed donation, its order reference, amount and programme, sent from our server so the appeal that brought it can be credited. Our team’s alert channels (email and Telegram), which carry notices about payments and can include a donor’s name. Gallery videos hosted on YouTube or Vimeo load from those services, under their own privacy policies. We do not sell donor data, rent it, or share it with other charities. Ever.

Cookies and analytics

Google Analytics and advertising cookies are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner. Until you do, and if you decline, nothing is stored and Google receives only cookieless signals. We also record — in our own database, not a third party’s — which campaign link brought a donor to the site, so we can tell which appeals work. You can block cookies in your browser without affecting your ability to donate.

How long we keep it

Donation records, including receipts, are retained for at least eight years, as required for a charitable trust’s books of account. Analytics data is retained for fourteen months.

Your rights

Sign in at “Your donations” with the email you gave, and you can see every gift, download your receipts, correct the dates we hold and turn our emails off. Beyond that, write to people@purafoundation.life to ask what else we hold about you, correct it, or ask for it to be deleted. We will delete what we are not legally required to keep, and tell you plainly what we must retain and why. You can unsubscribe from updates using the link in any update we send, or under “Your donations”.
